[pocket-linux] ch 6 implementation errors ...

hello,

wow, how embarrassing almost nothing worked!?

maybe i should backtrack a bit first in case this has any bearing. in ch
5 i mistakenly downloaded the version of util-linux (2.12d instead of
2.12h)previous to the one used in the instructions. it didn't work as
outlined, i got an error about missing libraries. so i checked with ldd
and added 2 (can't remember which ones)and then everything worked fine.

for ch 6 the new boot disk worked fine. the mount command didn't return
anything. uname -n command returned (none). shutdown -h now returned
TERm signal and KILL signal then said something like 'ran out of
processes'. sorry, i'm doing this from memory from another computer.

i did have some script errors which the system pointed out right down to
the line and i corrected those. some of the scripts are really short
(like hostname, though it did return 'none', which means it's not
catching the 'else' part of the script?) - it should be hard to make a
mistake!? i checked from the beginning of construction, scripts, making
scripts executable, links and i couldn't seem to find anything. it was
late though and i was frustrated and that doesn't help. hope to get back
to PL today and go through it again. i'm working completely from the
command line and can't copy and paste. that's probably the only reason i
found those discrepancies.

thanks
