If you alreay have CD-ROM support you should be ready to play mp3 files.
Just mount the CD-ROM after you boot and queue the songs.

My system is very old and not capable of booting from USB so I cannot
offer any advice here.  If you decide to procede with this please post
your progress on this list.  I'm sure there are others who would be
interested.
